GET INVOLVED WITH BMES

Interested in getting more involved with the BMES community at ASU? You've come to the right place! There are many ways for students to get more involved with BMES.

JOIN OUR EMAIL LIST

The first step is to join our email list if you haven't already so that you can stay up to date on all of our events. You can also follow us on Instagram or join our Facebook group to stay in the loop!

JOIN AN OFFICER COMMITTEE

Serving on an officer committee is a great way to learn more about what our leadership roles are like and to meet more people in the club. Often times when we transition our officer board from year to year, students who served on an officer's committee are poised to take over the position for the next year. Serving on a committee essentially involves helping the officer with whatever they need, which will vary based on the position. For instance, if you are interested in being a part of the Fulton Representative committee, you would help volunteer for Fulton events to help us reach our required targets for Dean's funding.

JOIN THE BMES MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

If you are an underclassmen looking to get more involved and get real hands on experience with engineering and professional development, the mentorship program may be for you! Mentees work with upperclassmen mentors in BME on specific, hands on projects throughout the school year. We currently have three different projects with different focuses:

• Creative Donation Project: Work with hospital professionals and develop SolidWorks skills

• Career Exploration: Explore research labs and network with companies

• Project C.U.R.E Partnership: Test and fix medical devices

In addition to working on your project, you can also learn valuable skills from your mentor and ask them any questions you have about BME, post-graduation options, networking, and anything else you might want to know about your future career path! No matter what time of year it is, you can always join a team to start getting more involved. To get started, click this link.

RUN FOR AN OFFICER POSITION

If you are interested in pursuing a full time leadership position on the BMES officer board, we hold elections every year at our last general body meeting of the semester. Prior to the meeting, we will send out a sign up sheet for everyone interested in running. Interested candidates should prepare a very short speech to help the chapter get to know you and why you would be qualified for the position. If you are interested in learning more about any specific positions, feel free to reach out to any of our current officers!
